Discipleship Ministry

Jesus left the church a command in the Great Commission:  "make disciples of all the nations… teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you" (Matt 28:19-20).  At Swansea Baptist Church, we take disciple-making and teaching very seriously.  Too many people come to Christ and are promptly forgotten about and then have difficulty in their Christian experience.  But in telling us to make disciples, Jesus tells us to make life-long followers of Christ who live under His teaching, submitting to Him because He is Lord.

Discipleship groups meet on Sunday evenings at 5:00 PM.  For adults, we offer two basic discipleship groups on Sunday evenings.  One group studies a discipleship program, such as The Call to Follow Christ, MasterLife, or Experiencing God.  They teach the basics of Christian living and prepare a Christian for a life-long experience of victorious, abundant life.  Students in this group work through a programmed text and meet on Sundays to tie together all they learned throughout the week and for mutual encouragement with others who are learning and growing with them.

The other adult discipleship group also meets on Sunday evenings at 5:00 PM and is taught a discipleship lesson in an informal setting, but with no work required during the week.

We have structured activities for children of all ages during our discipleship time on Sunday evenings.

The Swansea Baptist Church Women's Ministry conducts women-specific discipleship during their weekly women's ministry meetings on Tuesday nights at 7:00 PM.  You can read more about the women's ministry at its page on this web site.

The Men's Ministry includes discipleship as one of its goals.  The men of the church meet once monthly for breakfast and Bible study with the intention of growing together as faithful disciples of Christ.
